Zauchensee

Zauchensee
Its not all work and no play though! When the weekend comes around you will be able to enjoy your beautiful surroundings, whether it be on the mountains or down in the valley. You can also enjoy activities such as snowboarding, swimming, snow-shoeing, ski touring, tobogganing, world cup night races and other special events that you will only get to see in this region, not to mention the fantastic night life. You may also want to practice your newly learnt second discipline or just simply relax.

Zauchensee is a true jewel in the Austrian crown. There is fantastic skiing on our doorstep and linked access to a huge variety of skiing areas, all covered by one lift pass. The resort itself is superbly located amongst the surrounding mountains and so gets great snow conditions year after year. Wide open slopes and no queues explain why it is a training ground for National Ski Teams and has produced so many Austrian champions.
Zauchensee is a friendly village with a choice of authentic Austrian restaurants and bars with a traditional "chocolate box" feel. It has a new 4 km toboggan run providing even more fun. Have a look at the details below to learn more about the beautiful region, the fabulous winters and the glorious summers!

Ski Amade
Skiing in the Ski amade region offers unbeatable choice. Zauchensee and its immediate neighbours form part of Austria's largest ski and snowboard area, and offers some truly great skiing and boarding for families and groups of friends. The area spans over 25 separate ski locations with over 850kms of piste and 271 lifts and masses of inter-connecting ski slopes to suit all levels of skier, from beginner to expert.

Snow sure
Zauchensee village sits high in the mountains at 1300m. The town sits in the valley floor with the slopes extending well above the tree-line to 2250m. Zauchensee with its north facing slopes gets much better snow coverage than many of its neighbours, and other resorts at similar altitude. This means the snow regularly lasts well into May, and the conditions are often significantly better than the snow reports would suggest.

Skiing and Snowboarding
Zauchensee is a very charming, friendly resort with many tree-lined runs and a diverse range of skiing that will entertain all levels and tastes for weeks! The mountain is very well featured and provides not only many miles of excellent skiing, but wonderful scenery for touring too. Families and beginners are very well catered for and experts have a wealth of skiing available to them as well, on and off-piste.

Zauchensee is also a fabulous resort for snowboarders of all levels. As well as the tree lined pistes, there are plenty of off-piste areas to enjoy. A neighbour of Zauchensee is the superb area of Flachauwinkl, the home of "The Absolut Park". "The Absolut Park" (hosts to the ATOMIC Freestyle competition) is a snowboarder/freestyle skier’s paradise. You can more or less ski/board on everything you see. There are all kinds of ramps, rails, jumps and kickers as well as two halfpipes. The Freeride terrain and off-piste is also excellent in this resort, and Zauchensee is the seasonal choice for many professionals.

The resort has a great deal to offer beginners, and the range of inexpensive children's facilities that really helps Zauchensee stand out from the crowd. A good range of kids clubs and nursery slopes, as well as gentle runs for easy cruising, and very few drag lifts (great for beginners), making it a very popular choice for beginner skiers, boarders and families.
